Ajay Kumar, a captain in the Amargadh militia, had no idea what he was venturing into, when he set out for Shyampur in answer to an urgent summons from Thakur Ranbirsingh the man who had divested Ajays late father of all his wealth and property. . The old Thakur was now repentant, and wanted in his last days to make amemds for the great wrong by bequeathing all his property to Ajay Kumar, the Thakurs henchman, wanted the property for himself and actually set in motion a dangerous scheme was to be involved Sitara, a pretty dancer in Ranjit Kumars theatre. . Ajay, on the road to Shyampur, came across Tara, a beautiful young woman who turned out to be the runaway bride of (Ajays friend) Bhuttas old uncle. Ajay promised to lodge her with his mother, and - until his return from Shyampur - left her with an old couple in a simple cottage outside the town limits. . Arriving in Shyampur, Ajay was caught in the mesh of Ranjit Kumars scheme. Thakur Ranbirsingh, who had been kidnapped, was mardered and Ajay was charged with his murder. In the meantime Tara, who had tired of waiting for Ajay, had come to town too and by a strange freak of fate, came inot Ranjit Kumars clutches. He now decided to use her, instead of Sitara, in his scheme which was to marry her to Ajay just before his hanging, and then to marry the widow himself and thus acquite the Thakurs property. |
