Prem Sanghat is a love story between two people coming from an entirely different status. The love story centres around two clashes. One is the tussle between the deprived (represented by Chiranjit and his fellow friends) and the privileged (represented by Indrami Haldar and her family) and the other is disgrace in the society and the individual. A nice guy's faith and wish to live a simple life is destroyed by the shrewd and clever society. Chiranjit (Surjo), a poor farmer, loses his land to pay the dowry for his sister. A mishap occurs; annulment of the marriage forces his sister to commit suicide. These disasters turn him off from a normal life. The conflict starts as Surjo and Ratui ( Indrani Haldar) meet each other. Slowly they fall in love . Ratui finds out that the main culprit is not Surjo but her fahter Debata Mukherjee. One of the key figures in the cultured society is a crooked rich man. Debata means god, but the name becomes a mockery. Gradually the misunderstanding vanishes and they become buddies. As soon as she comes to know the reality she discards her father and walks into Chiranjit's house to support his battle against evil. At the end of the story Ratui's father losesses his life to one of his rented gundas. He is payed back by his own his coin and the pair moves forward to a happy life by executing that gunda. |
